The Family Labrador

Vicki’s Confession

I finally got around to ordering the S’mores Kit for my son-in law. He is one of those huge chocolate fans…and he absolutely flipped! He told my daughter that normally he would share with her but this was different. (Later, he shared a little).

He ate almost the whole Kit immediately, but decided to save the last few pieces for the next day. To his shock the family Labrador "sensed" something extremely out of the ordinary, jumped on the counter top and ate the last (and unguarded!) graham cracker. Nothing else was eaten. My daughter said that when her husband discovered the deed, the expression on his face was pitiful. He was so upset that he had saved some for later when he should have eaten it the night before. In response, he opened the back door and yelled out to the dogs, "I don’t love you anymore!!"

Needless to say, from now on I'll be ordering for him for every special occasion. I’d talked about your confections with him and he agrees that they are by far and away the best. I'll continue sharing your online store with my friends. Thank you.

Recchiuti Egg Cream

Yield: 1 Serving

To All West Coast Folks: There are no eggs in this refreshing summer drink. No cream neither. So why’s it called an “egg” cream? Some say it’s cuz egg whites were used back in the day to make it extra-foamy. Others say it’s Brooklyn-ese for a “chocolat et crème” recipe brought over from Paris. Whatever the case, don’t think. Just drink.

Ingredients
2 T
Extra-Bitter Chocolate Sauce
1/3 C
whole milk, ice cold
1 C
seltzer or soda water

MethodExtra-Bitter Chocolate Sauce
In a pint or tall soda glass, stir the Extra-Bitter Chocolate Sauce into the milk until blended completely. Add the seltzer water to the milk while stirring vigorously with a whisk or spoon. Continue stirring until you have a foamy head on top. Serve immediately.
