Sweet Basil Chocolate Martini
Sweet Basil Chocolate Martini
Yield: 2 servings
Mix up a round of these at your holiday party and discover the refreshing complement of fresh basil and dark chocolate. Unlike most chocolate cocktails, this one is not too sweet and has a wonderful, velvety texture. It can be served before dinner but it makes a wonderful after dinner drink, too.

Ingredients:
4 ounces Dark Hot Chocolate pistoles [BUY NOW]
8 ounces water, boiling
12-16 fresh sweet basil leaves*
3 ounces top shelf vodka
ice cubes
sprig of fresh basil leaves for garnish*
* This recipe also works well with fresh mint.

Method
- Muddle the basil in a cocktail shaker or pint glass.
- Add the hot chocolate pistoles and boiling water. Stir until the chocolate pistoles have melted and let cool to room temperature.
- Add the vodka and ice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glasses.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

If you’re entertaining a large group, make a quadruple batch of the hot chocolate-basil base in a blender and refrigerate until ready to use. Make sure you strain out the basil before serving!

Naughty List

Unsuspecting Friends, Neighbors and Family: Hide your chocolates from the folks who’ve made this year’s Naughty List.

Cam's Confession
I bought a Green Box for a lovely friend who lives across the street from me and has been ill nearly all year. He made the most beautiful Christmas wreath for me since he's mostly homebound. It was simply gorgeous. But something got into me, I don't know what. I ate the Green Box myself and bought him a giant Hershey bar instead.

I'm SO ashamed.

Kim's Confession
I'm a thief. I had to have it, one incredible bite of that Bittersweet Chocolate bar. I knew where my friend Bettsie hid it. I knew it was opened and partially enjoyed with the anticipation of more, with that suspense of making yourself wait like a kid on Christmas morning. I wanted some of that. So I took it. Just one small portion of tasty heaven. She came in the room. I smiled at her, a mouthful of her own lovely dark chocolate melting away in my mouth. I hurried to get away before she discovered the theft. Delicious.

Joy's Confession
Ashley is still hording the sampler box of chocolates you gave her. I have to wait until she goes to school, eat some and then replace it with leftover Halloween candy. I think she got suspicious when she found Smarties in the place marked "Ginger Heart".
