How do you pronounce Recchiuti? Say "reh-KYOO-tee"…as in "cutie" pie. You guessed right. It's Italian.
How long will my Recchiuti Confections stay fresh? By the time your confections arrive to you or are purchased at our Ferry Building or Little Nib stores, they are at their peak freshness. Our products are best if consumed immediately as they do not include preservatives, artificial flavors, or compounds. If you will not be consuming them right away, we recommend storing truffles at a temperature between 58 and 60 degrees, just as you would store red wine. Refrigeration is not recommended. Storage outside these parameters will alter the guidelines below.
3 months: Caramels (Fleur de Sel, Caramels to the Third Power).
10 months: Dark Hot Chocolate.
Our bars (Dark Milk, Semisweet, Bittersweet, Feve, Hazelnut [seasonal], Almond, Orchard, and Sesame Nougatine) and sauces (Extra-Bitter Chocolate, Burnt Caramel) have "Enjoy By" dates located on the packaging.
What is the best way to taste Recchiuti Confections? Serve Recchiuti Confections at room temperature. This brings out the full character and bouquet of each chocolate. We recommend pairing with still spring water. Some of our collections are also carefully curated to pair well with certain red wines, whiskeys, and beer. Recchiuti Confections is best consumed immediately.
What is the best way to toast Recchiuti Marshmallows? The Vanilla Bean Marshmallows in the S'mores Kit are meringue-like and caramelize very quickly. To prevent burning, please watch the marshmallows closely; refrain from placing too close to the heat source if broiling. Enjoy!
Can I microwave your sauce jars? There is foil on the jar labels which cannot be heated in the microwave. Additionally, repeated heating and cooling of the sauce is not advised. We recommend spooning the sauce into a microwavable bowl and heating only what you plan to serve.
Why can you not offer Key Lime Pears all year around? We use unripened pears in the Key Lime box. Unlike apples, a ripe pear will dissolve in the key lime juice while soaking and prohibiting the best quality or yield to fulfill demand. Our Key Lime Apples are available for purchase all year.
Do you use certified Fair Trade chocolate? Not at this time.
Are any Recchiuti products certified organic? Not at this time.
Are any Recchiuti products certified kosher? All of our products are kosher except for S’mores Kit, S’mores Bites, and Marshmallows (which contain gelatin), but none of our products are certified kosher.
Do you make anything that is low in sugar or sugar-free? Our Bittersweet Bar is only 15% sugar and our Feve Bar is less than 15% sugar. However, we do not make anything that is sugar-free.
Are any of your products dairy-free? Our Bittersweet Bar, Feve Bar, Semisweet Bar, Orchard Bar, Almond Bar, Key Lime Apples, Key Lime Pears, Pâtes de Fruits, Burnt Caramel Almonds, Candied Orange Peel, Cherries Two Ways, Peppermint Thins, and Vanilla Bean Marshmallows are dairy-free. All dairy-free items are vegan-friendly with the exception of the Vanilla Bean Marshmallow.
Which Recchiuti products contain egg? Our Vanilla Bean Marshmallows, S'mores Bites, and Fudge Brownies contain eggs.
Which Recchiuti products contain glucose? All our truffle and caramel products contain invert sugar (invert sugar is a stable sugar syrup made from sucrose that has been treated to break it down into its two simple sugars, glucose and fructose).
Which Recchiuti products contain nuts? Our Burnt Caramel Almonds, Burnt Caramel Hazelnuts, Candied Hazelnuts, Piedmont Hazelnut truffle, and Asphalt Jungle Mix contain tree nuts. Our Peanut Butter Pucks, Peanut Butter Pearls, and Asphalt Jungle Mix contain peanuts. All products are made on the same machinery and may contain traces of soy, dairy, eggs, and nuts.
Which Recchiuti products contain malt? Our Dark Milk Malted Revolutions and Honeycomb Malt truffle contain malt.
Which Recchiuti products are gluten-free? Our gluten-containing products are: Dark Milk Malted Revolutions, Honeycomb Malt (all the other truffles are fair game!), Sundae Kits, Peanut Butter Pearls, Fudge Brownies, Dark Chocolate Graham Crackers, and S'mores Kits and Bites. Do any of your products contain alcohol? Star Anise Pink Peppercorn, Sur de Lago, Kona Coffee, and Mandarin truffles all contain about or less than 1% alcohol in the finished piece. Our Champagne Truffle and Raspberry Truffle contain less than 10% alcohol.
What are those black specks in Recchiuti marshmallows? Those are vanilla bean seeds from the whole vanilla bean pod.
Which chocolate manufacturers/suppliers do you use in Recchiuti chocolates? We blend chocolate from E. Guittard, El Rey, and Valrhona to create our signature flavor profiles. You won’t taste chocolate like ours anywhere else!
What is soy lethicin and why is it in your chocolates? All of our truffles and chocolate products contain soy lethicin, an emulsifier included in the bulk chocolate we use from our manufacturers. The items that do not contain soy are our Pâtes de Fruits and our Marshmallows. Please keep in mind that all products are made on the same machinery and may contain traces of soy, dairy, eggs, and nuts.
Do you have nutritional info/labels for your products? The nutritional information for all our year-round products can be found on each product's page and on the product's packaging. Seasonal and small-latch products are exempt from FDA requirements for nutritional labeling.
What does “% cacao” mean? What are the cacao percentages of your bars? Why aren’t they listed on the packaging? This percentage indicates how sweet a chocolate is. Technically, it refers to the amount, by weight, of cacao bean plus cocoa butter in chocolate. The remaining weight is mostly sugar, so lower percentages = sweeter chocolate. We usually omit the percentage of cacao in our descriptions or packaging in favor of keeping the focus on the bar’s flavor profiles. Of course, we know how frequently this question is asked, so below you will find a listing of the percentage cacao content for all of our chocolate bars:

Can I choose flavors to make a custom box? Custom boxes are only available at our Ferry Building store and are not available online or at theLab store.
Do you have a chocolate club? No, we currently do not have a monthly chocolate Club.
Can I buy bulk dragées for my wedding/event? We do not sell our dragees in bulk.
Do you ship to Canada or overseas? While we love our international friends, we can only ship internationally if you use your own FedEx or UPS account (please note that additional handling fees will apply). To place an order for international delivery or an order within the United States but using a credit card tied to a foreign address, please contact our Concierge for assistance. Merci!
What is your return policy? Our goal at Recchiuti Confections is to completely satisfy all customers. We stand behind everything we make and guarantee that our chocolates leave our facility in peak condition. Due to the perishable nature of our product, we are unable to provide refunds or exchanges for items that are not damaged or defective. If you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact us immediately.
For items purchased online: We are happy to send you replacement items or to refund the original purchase price (excluding shipping) if the product is damaged. We cannot be held responsible for the following: delays caused by weather, mechanical failure or other acts beyond our control, incorrect or incomplete addresses input by the purchaser on the original web order, dislike of general taste of the product.
For Items purchased with Online Gift Cards: If you used an online gift card to place an order then your refund will be issued back onto your gift card for future use at recchiuti.com.
For items purchased at our Ferry Building or theLab stores: We are happy to provide a replacement item or refund (with original receipt) for damaged or defective items. If possible, please return the remainder of the product in its original packaging. We cannot be held responsible for items which are not shipped by us.

Where can I submit requests for donations? We are proud to support Creativity Explored, Meals on Wheels, Scholarmatch, and Share Our Strength with annual donations. Additionally, we are involved in annual events at the Ferry Building Marketplace, including Food from the Heart and The Harvest Festival that benefit Slow Food, CUESA and CCOF. While we would love to support all charitable efforts, our donation budget is allocated entirely to these organizations.
Do you offer tours of your factory? As a small, artisan manufacturer, we do not offer tours of our kitchens at this time. Our kitchens are active work facilities, and we do not have space or credentials to host tours.

Can I use my retail VIP program discount for online orders? Our loyalty program is an in-store program that doesn’t apply to orders placed over the phone or online.
